Population (as of 591 CY):
751,850-Human 79% (Suel), Halfling 9% (lightfoot 80%, tallfellow 20%), Elf 5%
(sylvan), Dwarf 3% (hill), Gnome 2%, Half-elf 1%, Half-Orc 1% (1)
Note: This is the offical census of the Duchy of Urnst. How accurate it is
an open question.
The sylvan elves are counted from the Celedon March but they themselves
would not claim Duchy citizenship. The census completely ignores
the High Elves that live in that forest as well.
The lightfoot halflings are clustered heavily in the Vale while
their tallfellow cousins are primarily clustered in or near the
Celedon Forest.
The Hill Dwarves and Gnomes are clans from the Cairn and Abbor-Alz
Hills. The Dumadan Mountain Dwarves were not counted.
Half-Elves are not uncommon in the east of the Duchy and Half-Orcs
are primarily from the South and Western portions.
To say that all Humans in the Duchy are Suel is misleading.
- There is a small but signifigant minority population of refugees
from the Shield Lands, the Bandit Kingdoms, and Nyrond. These
people are underrepresented in the census.
- The Cairn Hillspeople are Flan.
- The Abbor-Alz Hillspeople are Flan/Suel mix.
- The Rhennee are non-people in the Duchy and beneath contempt.
The links in the next column explain how the various racial groups
fit or don't fit into the "native" population that makes
up the Duchy of Urnst. These are not binding (except where a race
requires campaign documentation) as there are always exceptions
that prove the rule.
Don't be suprised if you choose a race that is considered "foreign"
or worse dangerous within our fair Duchy and your character encounters
some difficulties..
Note: Races in Italics require
campaign documentation to play or are banned from play.
